U.S. Platinum Eagle. First minted in 1997, the 1 oz. U.S. Platinum Eagle has a face-value of $100 and is guaranteed by the U.S. Government to contain 99.95% pure platinum. The Platinum Eagle was also issued in 1/2 oz. ($50 face-value), 1/4 oz. ($25 face-value), and 1/10 oz. ($10 face-value) coins from 1997-2008.
