Description

The Kau-Kau Korner (“Kau Kau” meaning “food” or “eat” in Hawaiian) was a historic diner in Honolulu that opened in 1935. It was a popular drive-in restaurant on the corner of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kalakaua Avenue. Kau-Kau Korner closed in 1960.”Guests could dine inside or be ‘courteously and quickly served in your car.’ The menu sign stated that there was “No car service for less than 10 cents” and instructed customers to ‘Please don’t sound your horn–blink your lights for service.’ This sticker typically appears on dollars dated 1921, 1922, and 1923. Surprisingly hard to find on any date dollar!
